Woman sexually assaulted in Oldham park as public urged to 'avoid area at night'

A manhunt is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted in a park in Oldham. Police were called to Alexandra Park at around 11pm on Monday (July 15) to reports of a 'serious sexual assault'.

An investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police, with the force now appealing for information and witnesses to trace the offender.

Detectives are also urging people to 'avoid the park at night time' following the incident, which has seen police patrols increased in the area.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Greater Manchester Police amid ongoing investigations.

DS Brereton, of GMP, said: “Although we believe this to be an isolated incident, we would encourage anyone to avoid the park area at night time.
