LIVE: Tram delays after services STOPPED on Metrolink line following crash - updates

Passengers are being warned to expect major disruption this morning as trams have been stopped on a Metrolink line.

No services were running between Ashton-under-Lyne and Piccadilly following a collision along the route earlier this morning (April 29).

Travel bosses are urging passengers to use Bee Network buses as an alternative, with Metrolink tickets being accepted on several services.

A Bee Network spokesperson said: "Following an earlier incident, services have now resumed between Ashton and Piccadilly.

"Ticket acceptance remains in place whilst services reform. There is ticket acceptance in place on the 7, 76, 53, 171, 172, 216, 219, 230 and 231 bus services.

"Simply show the driver your Metrolink ticket or pass when boarding... In addition to public transport, there are several destinations on this line that can be easily reached by walking."

Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.
