M6 crash LIVE: Lanes closed after traffic stopped with emergency services at scene - updates

Drivers are facing delays after traffic was stopped following a collision on the M6 motorway.

Two lanes of traffic remain closed on the motorway while emergency services work at the scene this morning (May 10).

Vehicles were held on the northbound carriageway approaching the Manchester turn-off, at junction 19 near Knutsford.

Queues are building on the northbound carriageway from junction 18 at Middlewich.

Traffic cameras appear to show officers and firefighters in attendance at the scene, with vehicles at a standstill behind them.

An earlier post from the Inrix traffic monitoring service said: "All traffic being temporarily held and slow traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound from J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel) to J19 A556 ( Knutsford )."

An update said: "Slow traffic and two lanes closed due to accident on M6 Northbound from J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel) to J19 A556 (Knutsford). Two (of four) lanes are closed."

Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.
