LIVE: Rush hour misery as trains STOPPED on Greater Manchester line - latest updates
Passengers are being warned to expect disruption as trains are at a standstill on a Greater Manchester line.
National Rail says lines have been closed between Stockport and Navigation Road, in Trafford, this morning (May 13).
It follows a signalling fault in the area, which is causing significant delays and cancellations.
National Rail expects the problem to continue until at least 8.30am today.
Northern services between Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport and Chester are affected.
A National Rail spokesperson said: "There is a fault with the signalling system between Stockport and Navigation Road, closing some lines running between these stations.
"As a result, trains running between Stockport and Chester may be cancelled, delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised. This issue is expected to continue to impact services until 08:30."
An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring system added: "Services at a stand on Northern westbound between Stockport and Altrincham due to problems with the signals at Navigation Road."
Passengers can use their tickets on Northern services between Manchester Victoria and Chester, Metrolink between Manchester and Altrincham, and Transport for Wales trains between Crewe and Chester.
