LIVE: Forensics descend on house after girl, 4, killed in fire - updates
Forensics investigators are at the scene of a house fire which killed a four-year-old girl in Rusholme.
Officers are in attendance on Gateshead Close for a second day following a fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon (March 2).
Emergency services were called out to the scene at 12.35pm yesterday. The young girl was rescued from the fire by crews.
She was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries, but tragically died despite the best efforts of emergency services.
A 44-year-old woman, who was known to the girl, was arrested on suspicion of arson with the intent to endanger life. She remains in custody today (Monday).
Crime scene investigators are in attendance on Gateshead Close, while a cordon remains in place near to the property.
Officers believe the incident to have been an isolated one. Enquiries are ongoing and witnesses are being urged to come forward.
