LIVE: Multiple cordons in place after shooting - updates

A major police investigation is underway following a shooting on a residential Salford street.

Officers are in attendance on Whit Lane, in Salford, today (March 3) following an incident in the early hours of the morning.

Multiple police cordons are in place in the area as officers carry out enquiries.

It's understood that a man is believed to have opened fire on Whit Lane, with a blank shot discharged.

Two properties were later raided by police, with drugs seized from inside. Two people have been arrested following the raids.

Greater Manchester Police believe the incident to be targeted, with no wider risk to the public.

Officers are manning the cordon this afternoon, with at least one GMP car in attendance at the scene.
