An air ambulance has landed in Littleborough this evening due to an ongoing collision on a main road. Emergency services are on the scene, on Halifax Road, with the road closed off in both directions.

Police and paramedics are at the scene, with the main road blocked between Wardle Road and Birch Road. There are delays in the area as emergency services work at the scene.

Pictures shared with the M.E.N today showed how an air ambulance landed in a field nearby to the scene.

"Road blocked and delays due to crash on A58 Halifax Road both ways between Wardle Road and Birch Road" the update read.

One local posted in a Facebook group that traffic was building in the area as emergency services deal with the collision.

"Traffic backing up to the roundabout at Albert Road Street going towards Littleborough too," they said. "The air ambulance is out as well."
