IPL 2024: Did Virender Sehwag Insult Orry Live On Air? Here's The Truth

Internet sensation Orry caught the attention of cricket fans after making his commentary debut during the opening match of IPL 2024 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday. Orry was included in the pre-match coverage of the opener between CSK and RCB by IPL's digital streaming partner Jio Cinema. Orry's interaction with former India opener Virender Sehwag garnered a lot of attention on social media. Sehwag, however, was accused of using a derogatory term towards Orry with regards to the LGBTQ+ community.

However, a clip has emerged on social media which showed that Sehwag never used the derogatory word to describe Orry. In fact, even Orry was seen having a laugh about the whole conversation.

Here's how the entire conversation unfolded:

Orry: "Ye suit na bahut mehenga hai. Is mein sports nahi khel sakte. But baad mein dikhayega (This is a costly dress, won't be able to play in this one. I will show it later.)

Anchor: "You want to show your favourite signature shot?"

Sehwag: "Main maara toh inhe bahar hi bhejunga (If I hit, I will smack him out)," Virender Sehwag replied.

Coming back to the opening match of IPL 2024, Mustafizur Rahman returned figures of 4-29 to set up a six-wicket win for defending champions CSK against RCB.

CSK kept RCB down to 173-6, a total their batsmen overhauled in 18.4 overs at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

Shivam Dube, who hit 34, and fellow left-hander Ravindra Jadeja, who made 25, put on an unbeaten stand of 66 to steer the team home.

The 17th edition of the lucrative league began with a glitzy ceremony, with performances by Bollywood stars including India's Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman.
