Lewis Ferguson sets ultimate Serie A goal as Bologna midfielder brushes off Euro push during 'long' race

Scotland star Lewis Ferguson has declared he wants to improve on his Serie A goal tally this term after netting in the win over Frosinone.

The midfielder - who started for Steve Clarke's side in the 4-1 friendly loss to France in Lille - has emerged as the key man for the Italian outfit after leaving Aberdeen back in 2022 - netting seven goals in his first campaign in Serie A. But the 24-year-old was in the right place to convert Alexis Saelemaekers and put his side on the path to a 2-1 victory which moved them up to eighth in the table.

While the Scot insisted it was too early to think about pushing for the European places, he has set himself a personal goal this term. So far he has netted twice - and he is looking to find his shooting boots urgently. Speaking after the game to club media, he said: “We are happy: we approached the match well and immediately took the lead. After the second goal we had to defend because they are a good team but we remained united and won.

"The ranking is important, we started the season well but the championship is long, we play match by match and we will see where we can get in the end. What is certain is that we always work to achieve results.

"I'm happy to have scored today too, last year I scored 7 times, this year I want to improve. We are a strong and very united team that has room to always do better, we are all important in this group."
