Leicester City injury state of play ahead of season finale vs Southampton

Leicester City could be left sweating on the fitness of both Youri Tielemans and James Justin after they were absent from the side that drew 1-1 at Chelsea.

Both players have been key in Brendan Rodgers' squad so far this season but were two of four changes made to the team at Stamford Bridge. Tielemans was absent due to a knock to his knees, whilst Justin's absence was put down to a spate of illness.

Rodgers is hopeful on the duo's return to fitness, having provided the latest following the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night. That game did though see the return of Ricardo Pereira and Hamza Choudhury who were both unused substitutes. Wilfred Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand are long-term absentees.

Eyes now turn to the City's final game of the season as they look to end the Premier League campaign on a high in a season that has been full of injuries. Here's the latest on the injury situation ahead of that game.

Knee.

Tielemans had a clash of knees in the win over Watford a couple of weeks ago and missed the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Illness

Justin was expected to feature against Chelsea but instead had to watch from a distance due to a sudden illness.

: Medial ligament damage.

The defensive midfielder has been ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery. Rodgers had suspected medial knee ligament problems after he hobbled off at Rennes. After getting a second opinion, Ndidi had an operation and he will be recovering until June.
