Eight Leicester City prospects who should be given a chance in pre-season

Leicester City are enjoying a period of success in turning academy players into first-team stars, with Harvey Barnes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Hamza Choudhury and Luke Thomas all in Brendan Rodgers’ senior squad this season.

But despite a very promising set of youngsters hoping to follow in their footsteps, City were, surprisingly, one of four teams not to hand a single Premier League appearance to a teenager this season, along with Chelsea, Newcastle, and Burnley. Some featured in the FA Cup but at the end of the season when there was little riding on the games, Rodgers chose to stick with his senior players rather than give the up-and-comers a chance.

But pre-season is around the corner and that provides an opportunity for a few youngsters to be given a run-out in lower-pressure fixtures. It will also give Rodgers a chance to see which of those prospects fit in best in the first-team environment. Below, we’ve listed eight teenagers that fans will hope to get a glimpse of during the pre-season fixtures.

He wowed the crowd with his quick feet when he made his senior debut at 16 in January. But he was also warned by Rodgers that if he kept hogging the ball, he wouldn’t be getting many more opportunities.
