SOUTHAMPTON, New York, June 21 : Wyndham Clark captured his second U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills on Sunday but concedes he still has a lot of work to do to win back the fans after causing serious damage in the Oakmont Country Club locker room at last year's event.
SOUTHAMPTON, New York June 21 : Wyndham Clark won the U.S. Open with a one shot victory over fellow American Sam Burns at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Sunday.
Wyndham Clark recovered from a rough front nine and shot 3-over-par 73 to hang on to win the US Open for the second time in four years Sunday in Southampton, N.Y. His four-round total of 4-under 276 gave him a one-stroke victory at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Clark’s six-shot advantage entering the day dwindled to one on multiple occasions, but he never lost the lead. He is the third player to collect two US Open victories since 2017 after Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau. Clark outlasted Northern Ireland star Rory McIlroy in 2023 at Los Angeles Country Club for his first major. Runner-up Sam Burns shot 67. South Korea’s Tom Kim (70) was third at 1 under.
SOUTHAMPTON, New York, June 21 : Seventeen-year-old Miles Russell gave his dad the ultimate Father's Day present at the U.S. Open on Sunday, bringing him in to caddie on his final hole at Shinnecock Hills.
SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Joe Russell did not know what was going on.
SOUTHAMPTON, New York, June 21 : Wyndham Clark will look to claim his second U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills on Sunday, after building an extraordinary six-stroke lead through the first three rounds at the challenging Southampton course.
Wyndham Clark proved to be even tougher than Shinnecock Hills in the U.S. Open with four pivotal par saves in a five-hole stretch and a majestic 3-wood to 4 feet that set up the only eagle all week on the par-5 16th hole. Each shot stretched his lead over Scottie Scheffler and everyone else.
SOUTHAMPTON, New York June 20 : Wyndham Clark will hope for a livelier crowd as he bids for a second U.S. Open win at Shinnecock Hills on Sunday, with a six-stroke lead giving him a clear path to the trophy and, he hopes, fans' affections.
