Kelle Roos warns of Aberdeen FC 'cut throat' scenario as Barry Robson has squad skipping into European charge
Kelle Roos reckons Aberdeen are skipping into the new season and ready to fight on two fronts.
But the keeper warned they’ll need to keep their feet on the floor or risk falling flat on their face. The Dons are in optimistic mood but the wounds of last term are still fresh for some. The Pittodrie side suffered an alarming midseason slump last time out that cost former boss Jim Goodwin his job and left the club embarrassed on the big stage. The Scottish Cup exit to Darvel caused shockwaves while five and six-goal hammerings by Hearts and Hibs left their campaign circling the drain.
Barry Robson came in to halt the slide and fire the Dons to a third-place finish to put a positive slant on a challenging nine months. There are high hopes around the club this time but Roos knows competing in Europe to Christmas while fighting on the home front can be dangerous. The Dutchman said: “The aim and ambition of this club is to be in Europe. Qualifying last year was brilliant but now we have to try to compete in these competitions and in the league.
“It’s great to have eight guaranteed games and it’s good for us. It’s going to be a big schedule with a lot of games but this is where we’ve prepared for. If you are a football player you want to play at the highest level and pit yourself against the best teams out there.
“It’s not easy. We have to pick up points every week in this league. What I don’t want to do is sit here and say we’re going to be the best team in the league. I won’t say we’ll be the worst either. What I want to stress is in football winning the next game is what you have to do. That starts this week at Livingston and I don’t like to look too far ahead.
“If we can build from one performance to another we can go from
