Celtic and Rangers title tussle given unanimous Saturday Jury verdict but vote split over who will go down
ANDY NEWPORT: It’s simply too early to tell how Rangers are going to gel after bringing in so many new faces this summer. Celtic, on the other hand, may have lost Jota but they still have the majority of the main men that took them to the Treble last year and rightly deserve the favourites tag.
CRAIG SWAN:Celtic are the team to beat and, if they maintain their levels of last season, they’ll win it again.
FRASER: Celtic. Brendan Rodgers has a Treble-winning group at his disposal and even the loss of Jota won’t disturb their rhythm if Kyogo, Maeda and Abada stay fit. Rangers will make a decent fist of it but, despite the raft of new arrivals, they still don’t look as strong as the Hoops at the back or up top where it matters.
ANDY: I’ve been worried about St Johnstone all summer given the lack of new arrivals to replace the dozen players or so they let go last season. Nothing I’ve seen since has eased my concerns.
CRAIG: Livingston are tipped every year and always defy the odds. Dundee may well, as most newly-promoted sides do, find it tough.
FRASER: This is always the toughest prediction in the top flight. Automatically Dundee spring to mind having just come up but Tony Docherty is a wise appointment and going by the League Cup group stages I worry for St Johnstone who look to be short of quality.
ANDY: It depends on who you ask, I suppose. Manager Michael Beale might not be too disheartened at the prospect of bedding his new squad into the friendlier environment of the Europa League. But the directors who’ve just shelled out £15million on new talent will want a return on that investment.
CRAIG: It’s not imperative, but it is very important to the playing department and the hierarchy in terms of prestige and
