Jose Cifuentes AGREES Rangers pre contract transfer but Michael Beale reveals talks to sign midfielder this summer

Michael Beale has revealed Jose Cifuentes has agreed to join Rangers at the end of the year on a free transfer but that he desperately wants to bring the Ecuadorian in this summer.

The LAFC midfielder is one of the top targets for the Ibrox side and Beale said the clubs are talking over a deal to bring him in. Beale, asked about Cifuentes on Sky Sports, said: “It is getting closer. The logistics of that one, with work permits. The clubs are still talking. He’s out of contract at the end of the year and we have an agreement with that but would like to bring it to a close early so he can join us this season.”

And on fellow target Danilo, he said: “There’s talks in the background but he’s a Feyenoord player just now and they are also building after a really successful season last year. We’ll keep that between the two clubs at the moment. He’s obviously a good player.

“The recruitment both ways - in and out - isn’t finished right now so the squad will come together. It’s important we maintain quiet and keep doing our work in building this team. There’s a lot of speculation around one or two names and I don’t know why that has gathered so much pace because they’re a little way off just yet and are not the only names we’re looking at.

“As a squad we spoke about wanting to be tighter and there’s a lot of competition for places but with that one or two players will. We’ve recruited swiftly over the summer, we’ve got some new faces in and the squad is shaping up really well. We’re really pleased with how the summer work has gone. The boys that were here before will gel it all together but we had a fantastic week in Germany which was really good for the players. There’s a nice energy and feel around the place at the moment.
