Giorgio Chiellini in Cifuentes to Rangers rave review as signing labelled 'one of the greatest I've ever played with'
Jose Cifuentes will have a legend of the game cheering on his every move at Rangers after leaving Los Angeles FC.
Italy and Juventus great Giorgio Chiellini has spent the last 18 months playing alongside the Ecuadorian in MLS. Cifuentes has now swapped LA for Govan though, completing his £1.2million switch to Rangers and penning a four-year deal to work under Michael Beale earlier this week. He's now in line for a first appearance in blue when the Glasgow club make the short trip to Kilmarnock to kick off their Premiership campaign on Saturday,
And Chiellini will be watching on with interest to see how his old mate gets on with his new club. He lavished some extremely high praise on the 24-year-old when you consider some of the greats Chiellini has shared a pitch and dressing room with. The likes of Andrea Pirlo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Francesco Totti have lined up alongside the chiselled defender. But he puts the Rangers new boy right up there with anyone he's played with after their stint together Stateside.
"Jose (Cifuentes) is one of the greatest talents that I have ever played with," he told ESPN. "He's always smiling and positive. He's a great person and a great talent. I wish him well at Glasgow Rangers, and I will be supporting from afar."
