Jamie Carragher makes major Man United prediction U-turn after Ruben Amorim start
Jamie Carragher insists Manchester United won't finish in the Premier League's top-five this season - despite the appointment of Ruben Amorim earlier this month.
Amorim was named as United's new head coach earlier this month following the sacking of Erik ten Hag after less than two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford. However, Carragher doesn't believe that the 39-year-old - who masterminded Sporting CP to two league titles in four years - has enough to turnaround the Reds' poor start to the season and claim automatic European qualification.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool and England defender conceded that his pre-season prediction that United would finish fifth was the "biggest mistake" out of all 20 teams.

"In fifth place, this is the biggest mistake I’ve made in my predictions,” said Carragher Sky Sports. “I put Manchester United in fifth position. I don’t think there is a chance Manchester United finish in fifth position. I would be very surprised if they finish in the top six. I can’t see that happening.”
Amorim made his Premier League bow against Ipswich Town at Portman Road last Sunday and was handed the dream start when Marcus Rashford scored from close range to put his side with less than two minutes on the clock.
However, United's lead was wiped out just before half-time when former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Omari Hutchinson curled an equaliser past Andre Onana. On Thursday, Amorim saw his United team come from behind in the Europa League to seal a 3-2 win over FK Bodo/Glimt.
