Retired teacher has people in tears after daughter's emotional plea for help

A devoted daughter's appeal for support for her retired maths teacher dad has paid off after thousands flocked to his YouTube channel, where Yohannes Mehretab continues his lifelong passion for teaching. With a whiteboard fixed on his home's wall and an iPhone balanced on a stepladder for recording, he had initially drawn just 71 subscribers.

Upon seeing this, however, his daughter Sam turned to TikTok with a heartfelt request: "Now retired, dad has decided to make YouTube videos teaching maths," she shared in her plea. "Please sub [subscribe]! "

Her video appeal quickly went viral, amassing over 13 million views within 48 hours - not only racking up nearly 100,000 subscribers for Yohannes, but also stirring emotions across the social media platform. Overwhelmed by the response, Sam uploaded another video capturing Yohannes's joy upon realising his sudden rise to internet fame.

It prompted hundreds of TikTok to sing the praises of Yohannes over his new online maths endeavour. One user commented: "I graduated from high school 2009 and I'm a lawyer now, but it's okay I want to study maths again with Yohannes."

Another declared: "Do I need to learn any maths right now? No. Did I subscribe to his channel? Yes!" A third expressed gratitude: "Thank you to
