Erik ten Hag signing's future clear after Ruben Amorim's first week on Man United touchline

When reflecting on his first week in the Manchester United dugout, Ruben Amorim and the supporters will be relatively pleased with what they have seen.

The Portuguese head coach's warm presence around the camp has proven fruitful with United still unbeaten since Amorim took charge of the club. It could be argued that little can be gauged from such a run considering the calibre of opposition.

Ordinarily United would have been expected to win all three games but a draw at Ipswich, considering where the club was prior to Erik ten Hag's sacking can be overlooked. It is perhaps too early to even gauge whether the Reds will be a success under Amorim but with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all to come in the next five fixtures, we are going to have a better read on that soon.

What can be drawn from this week is which players are likely to be kept and which are destined for the exit door. Amad and Antony both find themselves under this gaze for polar opposite reasons.

On the one hand, we have the Ivorian who has adjusted to right wing-back like a duck to water and is creating chances, scoring goals and being an overall threat across the pitch. On the other we have Antony, who seems completely out of place in this post-Ten Hag United.

Even before his old boss left, Antony was struggling to live up to his hefty price tag but now it seems even harder to see a future for him at the club. It is not only Amad who is ahead of him in the pecking order either - Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and an out of position Bruno Fernandes are all more likely to start ahead of him.
