ITV The Masked Singer fans say Cricket was 'robbed' as star unmasked in grand final

Fans of ITV's The Masked Singer said Cricket was 'robbed' as the character was unmasked as pop singer Lemar during Saturday night's grand final.

The 50/50 and If There's Any Justice singer, who rose to fame after appearing in the first series of the BBC's Fame Academy, came in third place, losing out to Big Foot and Piranha, who went on to battle it out in the final sing-off.

Viewers and the judges were all convinced they knew Cricket was the soulful musician after his final performance of A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. Panellist Mo Gilligan guessed Lemar, to which Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross both agreed, with Rob Brydon and Davina McCall also calling it ahead of the singer's reveal.

After taking off his mask, Lemar told the panel: "I thought it was gonna be fun, it's been more fun than i could have imaged", adding that he loved expressing himself on songs his fans wouldn't necessarily expect.

Many fans were convinced that the final two celebrities to be unmasked would be comedian Alex Brooker as Big Foot and McFly member Danny Jones as Piranha. And some were sad that Lemar, who also came third on Fame Academy, didn't win the show.

"I think the only reason Lemar didn't make it to the final is because everyone knew it was him and they wanted to save the suprise to the final?" one fan contemplated on X, formerly Twitter. Another said: "Of course it was Lemar! That voice was obvious from day one."
