Coronation Street's DS Swain star says 'it was awful' as she addresses Roy Cropper arrest backlash

Coronation Street star Vicky Myers said it was 'awful' arresting a soap legend as her latest work on the street is revealed. The last time we properly saw DS Lisa Swain in action in the ITV soap was back in October when the hunt for serial killer Stephen Reid was on before he was mowed down and killed by Peter Barlow.

While Weatherfield's residents are often seen having brushes with Swain, the detective sergeant will next week find herself back in the thick of the action as she investigates the disappearance of Lauren Bolton alongside PC Craig Tinker.

As viewers of the ITV soap know a mystery man appeared at Lauren's door to surprise her on Valentine's Day and her shock was written all over her face as her heart appeared to sink but viewers were never told who the visitor was. Later, Lauren's love interest Bobby had found her flat unlocked, with Lauren nowhere to be seen. It came after her earlier claims to Roy she was going to flee the street as he visited her with her wages after she stole from Bethany Platt, which saw her lose her job.

Since then, Bobby hasn't let Lauren's sudden exit from the cobbles go and soon, Bobby records an appeal with Suki from the Gazette in a bid to find Lauren. In the meantime, Evelyn Plummer tells Roy that she's had to let Laurn's flat go as the landlord discovered she'd been sub-letting.
