Avatar: The Last Airbender fans make demand as Netflix confirms show's future

Netflix subscribers appear to be torn after Avatar: The Last Airbender was renewed for a further two seasons. Fans of the hit 2005 Nickelodeon series were apprehensive when an eight-part live-action series released on the streamer on February 22.

The show is currently sat at number four on the UK's most-watched charts. It stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, a fearless 12-year-old who also happens to be the keeper of the world’s balance and peace.

Avatar: The Last Airbender charts the chaotic fallout with all four elemental nations at war - water, earth, fire and air - are at war. Only Aang has the power to manipulate all four worlds.

Viewers were split on the live-action remake, with many criticising the show's pacing and CGI. But on Wednesday (March 6), the streaming giant confirmed two more seasons are on the way.

Sharing a promotional poster for the series captioned 'Aang's journey continues,' the official Netflix X account announced: "The Avatar will return!! Seasons 2 & 3 of AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER are coming!"

While fans were excited, some still had concerns over the eight-episode format. @xRamzeyx suggested: "Double the number of episodes or it's going to fall hard" as @mirror6aIl demanded: "netflix make them each longer than 8 episodes if you want truly good seasons".

@JamesHalliday94 chipped in: "The episodes that you skipped over and combined in Season 1 left me with serious doubts for the future of the series. The locations and character designs were all perfect, the special effects were fantastic and the music was incredible but it all comes down to story direction."
