Emily Atack says 'I wasn't going to say this' as she makes baby announcement live on BBC Breakfast

Emily Atack has made an announcement about her unborn child as she appeared on BBC Breakfast. The actress and comedian said she 'wasn't going to say' what she did but decided to open up when speaking about her new campaign to bring about a change to sex consent laws.

Emily marked the end of 2023 by revealing she was expecting her first child. She took to Instagram to confirm the happy news at the time and was seen smiling for a black and white snap, which showed off her blossoming bump while her publicist confirmed she is in a relationship with scientist Alistair Garner.

She has now confirmed that she is expecting a baby boy with her due date still a few months away. While chatting about the Right to Equality movement, Emily said: "I’m six months [pregnant] and I wasn’t going to say this, but I am going to say this – I’m having a boy."

Emily then added: "So I want him to be a part of a really positive change and I want him to grow up knowing he can talk about these things openly and enjoy his life. I want him to be on the right side of history."

Emily, who led a 2023 documentary on online sexual harassment, Asking For It?, which explored the loopholes that often make it difficult to convict someone of online sexual harassment, is now fronting the 'I’m asking for it' by Right to Equality who are putting pressure on Parliament to update the UK’s 20-year-old sexual offence laws and introduce the affirmative consent model.

Meanwhikle, taking to Instagram, Emily announced the happy news she was expecting on December 30.
