Hull City vice-chairman claims Sheffield Wednesday must up offer for Tigers attacker

Hull City vice-chairman Tan Kesler has revealed Sheffield Wednesday’s first offer for Mallik Wilks was ‘not enough to consider’, though negotiations between the two clubs still remain ‘open’. Hull Live understands that a £200,000 deal is edging closer, though Kesler has claimed there is still plenty of work to be done to get it over the line.

Wilks is said to be keen on a summer switch to Hillsborough, with a two-year-deal on the table as Darren Moore looks to bolster his attack ahead of the new season. Talks have been ongoing regarding Hull's asking price for Wilks, who netted three times in 20 appearances last season in a campaign when he suffered injury issues and a loss of form.

City are planning a big revamp to their attack this summer, with a deal for Allahyar Sayyadmanesh close and interest in USMNT forward Haji Wright. Keane Lewis-Potter was the only member of the City squad to reach double figures last season and Shota Arveladze will be keen to avoid a repeat of that statistic.

Speaking on BBC Radio Sheffield, Kesler has confirmed the club will listen to an improved offer from Wednesday, but at the moment it is not at the required asking price.

He said: “They have a genuine interest but Mallik is someone who has had his good days with us. He’s out there training properly and competing, he always has a jersey here. With all due respect Sheffield Wednesday the offer is not enough for us to consider.
