Sheffield Wednesday interested in Norwich City defender Akin Famewo

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in Norwich City defender Akin Famewo. The left-footed centre-half was on Owls' radar last summer and Yorkshire Live understands the club are now revisiting that interest.

Wednesday have already signed two centre-backs this summer in Ben Heneghan and Michael Ihekiwe, but Darren Moore is still understood to be keen on Famewo.

The 23-year-old has League One experience having spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, where he made 22 league appearances. The previous season he spent time at St Mirren.

It's not clear at this stage whether Wednesday will push for a loan or permanent move as they explore the possibility of signing the defender ahead of the coming League One campaign.

It's been a productive start to the window for Darren Moore, who is looking to improve on last season and win promotion back to the Championship. Wednesday have made five signings already this summer and have eyes on Hull City forward Mallik Wilks.
