Snodland Town player-manager Connor Dymond on their history-making run to the FA Cup second qualifying round

Snodland Town are proving to be one of the stories of the early rounds of the FA Cup.

The Southern Counties East Premier Division club upset higher-league opposition for the second time in three matches to continue their history-making run.

They won 3-1 at Isthmian South East high-fliers Margate last Saturday to reach the second qualifying round for the first time, building on their win over Harrow Borough in the previous stage.

Snodland’s reward is a home tie against another Isthmian South East club, Sheppey United, on September 19.

Town had never been past the preliminary round in their three previous appearances since earning Step 5 status in 2023.

But they’re on a roll under player-manager Connor Dymond, who succeeded Luke Jessup and Fred Dillon over the summer.

“It means so much to the club because they’re quite a new club at this level compared to others in Kent,” said Dymond.

“Everyone works super-hard and this cup run is about them.

“They work tirelessly and give the boys everything they can, and hopefully the boys have repaid that faith.”

Sheppey have recent cup history of their own, making the first round proper three years ago and playing on TV against Walsall.

They will provide stiff opposition but who’s to say Snodland won’t continue their fairytale run?

“We’ll back ourselves against anyone,” said Dymond.

“We’ve done it against Harrow and Margate and we played teams above in pre-season. You’re always going to be tested in cup competitions when you play teams at higher levels.

“If you don’t draw someone at the same level then you want the tier above to give yourselves the best chance of going through, although the fans were probably dreaming of Maidstone away.
