Hamilton Accies striker hailed by team-mates after first league goal at 17 years old

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has revealed Ryan One got a heroes' reception after bagging his first goal for the club in yesterday's 2-0 win at Kelty Hearts.

One, who turned 17 last month, netted the clinching goal at New Central Park to help Accies go top of the table.

It was the third time in his career the Coatbridge kid has scored for the club, but his strike in Fife was a first on league business.

Rankin said: "Ryan got a round of applause in the dressing room and he deserves it after getting his first league goal at 17.

"Not many players in the dressing room can say they've done that, but he can.

"I'm delighted for him. He works hard, he's done the full pre-season with us, he's been in and out because he can still play for the 18s, but he's been really good for us when he's come in.

"He merited his start against Cove a couple of weeks ago and we knew he could make an impact for us from the bench.

"He is still young so it is about making sure he continues to grow.

"I'm really pleased with him so far and how well he as progressed."

Accies will look to maintain their perfect start next weekend when they travel to Edinburgh City, on the back of a seven game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Meadowbank men have yet to pick up a point this season and Rankin said: "It is another tough game. I've not been to the venue and I don't think any of the players have, so it is another new experience for us.

"We'll get a good week of training in us and go for another three points."
