Hamilton Accies star delighted with first goal in perfect start to League One

Dylan Tait grabbed his first goal of the season with Hamilton’s winner against Montrose, and says they’ve got off to the perfect start in League One– but that’s all it is so far.

On-loan Hibs midfielder Tait struck four minutes into the clash against the Gable Endies at New Douglas Park, heading Jamie Barjonas’ cross in from close range, and hopes it’s the first of many.

Tait reckons Accies are gong to need goals from all areas of the pitch if they are to be successful this season, but reckons they’ve done that well so far, with four wins without conceding a goal.

The 21-year-old said: “I was happy with it, it was a good team goal, a good ball in from Barjo and I finished it well, so I was really happy with it.

“It was good to get my first goal, and hopefully it’s the first of many, because I nearly scored a second goal as well, so hopefully there’s more to come.

“It felt really good. I’ve not scored for a while. I’ve not played much football, because I’ve had a lot of injuries and stuff recently, and I’ve not probably been playing my best football.

“It was a really good win, four wins from four, and we’ve not conceded a goal, so it’s probably a perfect start in that sense, but we should probably have won the game more comfortably.

“We’re going really well and everybody’s in good spirits and enjoying going in to training, and in a good mood, but we know we’ve only played four games and it’s a long season.”

Tait reckons a combination of keeping clean sheets and goals from different players is a winning one.

“Hopefully we can keep winning,” he said. “At the moment we’re keeping clean sheets and it makes it easier to win games, because there’s a trust there between us all.
