Former Celtic winger snubs Hamilton Accies loan deal as Nottingham Forest move edges closer for New Douglas Park starlet

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has revealed academy startlet Cormac Daly is on the verge of completing a move to the English Premier League side Nottingham Forest, while the club have missed out on signing Owen Moffat from Blackpool.

Sixteen-year-old Daly - who helped Hamilton's under-18s win their league last season and qualify for this season's UEFA Youth League - is just the latest Accies academy product to catch the eye of big clubs in England, with Josh McDonald already sealing a move to Leeds United and 17-year-old first-team star Ryan One a target for Sheffield United.

And it appears Daly will be leaving New Douglas Park for pastures new ahead of Friday's transfer deadline day.

Rankin told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "Cormac has been down to Nottingham Forest for talks and both clubs have spoken.

"Nothing has been confirmed yet - nothing is signed - but I imagine something will happen in the coming days on that."

Meanwhile, Rankin has said Blackpool winger Moffat will not be joining the club on loan from the English League One side.

Last week Moffat featured for Accies in a behind-closed-doors clash with Rangers, with a view to the former Celtic player returning to Scotland.

However, the 21-year-old - who still has two years left on his contract with The Seasiders - has decided his future does not lie at New Douglas Park.

Rankin said: "Owen played a closed doors game for us against Rangers B last week with a view to us doing something with Blackpool.

"He has moved on to an option of something else, somewhere else, so that doesn't look like that will happen for us now."
