‘Getting worse’ - Man City fans make worrying prediction after Crystal Palace draw

Manchester City supporters are lamenting their side’s inability to put opponents to the sword after letting a two-goal lead slip against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

A stoppage-time penalty from Michael Olise meant the hosts were held to a point after Jean-Phillippe Mateta sparked the comeback on 76 minutes after goals from Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis, his first in the Premier League, looked to have set City on their way to victory.

City have now failed to win three consecutive home Premier League games for the first time since 2016 having drawn with Liverpool and Tottenham in this run. It means the Blues will stay fourth in the table and risk falling further behind in the title race.

The Treble winners dominated the first half and almost all of the second aside from short spells. Mateta eventually punished City for not extending their lead before he won a foul off Phil Foden inside the area late on to allow Olise to level.

This was City’s final match before they jet off to Saudi Arabia to take part in the Club World Cup. They face a semi-final against Urawa Reds of Japan on Tuesday ahead of a possible final on Friday versus either Brazilian club Fluminense or Al Alhy of Egypt.

City are the favourites to land the trophy but fans are less confident than they once were given their recent form. Supporters on social media and Manchester Evening News readers are concerned about their chances of trophies this season.
