Renowned pundit Gary Lineker has weighed in on Everton’s hopes of avoiding relegation after their latest win.

The Blues secured a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Goodison Park, thanks to a second half goal from Richarlison. That win leaves Frank Lampard’s side two points adrift of safety with a game in hand.

Everton have five league matches left to play this season, and will still have strong hopes of avoiding dropping into the Championship. Next up for the Blues is an away trip to Leicester City next weekend.

After Everton’s win over Chelsea, Lineker took to Twitter to give his views on his old club’s hopes of avoiding relegation. The Match of the Day pundit praised the Blues for their performance, and offered hope in their bid to avoid relegation.

“Massively important win for Everton,” wrote Lineker.

“Very disciplined and well organised performance. It ain’t over yet.”
