Emergency services called to Oldham after 'building in danger of collapsing'

Fire crews rushed to an Oldham street after reports of a building in danger of collapsing. Emergency services were called to Yorkshire Street just before 4:30pm on Sunday (January 21st).

Crews from the Oldham Central fire station and a Technical Response Unit from Ashton were called to the area. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service say firefighters used a timber saw and lighting to make the building safe and they currently remain at the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Just before 4.30pm this afternoon (Sunday 21^st January), one fire engine from Oldham Central fire station, along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton, were called to reports of a building in danger of collapsing on Yorkshire Street, Oldham.

“Crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters are using timber saws and lighting to make the building safe.

“Firefighters have been in attendance for around an hour and forty minutes and are still at the scene.”
