Child, 14, seriously hurt after being knocked down in hit-and-run near school

A 14-year-old child was left seriously injured after being knocked down by a car in a hit-and-run near a school in Oldham.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident on Hollins Road, near the Oasis Academy school, at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, February 8). The child was rushed to hospital from the scene.

They suffered serious but 'non life-threatening or life-changing' injuries, police said. Police have revealed whether they were a boy or a girl at this stage.

The driver of the car fled the scene. An investigation into the incident by Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now underway.

Officers want to speak to any witnesses who saw the crash yesterday afternoon. They also want to speak to anyone who has CCTV or dash-cam footage, or who has any information.
