Coronation Street's Alison King says 'definitely not' over Carla's future after Peter's exit as her family expands
Coronation Street star Alison King has addressed Carla Connor's near future as her family expands on the cobbles after Peter Barlow's exit. It is no secret that her co-star Chris Gascoyne is leaving the ITV soap after 23 years and the big exit comes this Christmas.
Viewers have seen Peter struggling in recent months after causing the death of businessman-turned-serial killer Stephen Reid. This Christmas Day it is a family affair for the Barlows as they gather at No.1 Coronation Street.
Tracy is unimpressed to realise she is cooking for ten at the Barlows, and a joke about relationship gap years causes some friction between her and Steve. Meanwhile, Peter gives Carla a beautiful present, a silver bracelet inscribed with ‘P loves C’. But he is shocked when she reveals what she has bought him.

Christmas eventually draws to a close and with the big day over, Boxing Day brings emotions to the forefront for Peter and Carla. The couple look back over their tumultuous courtship and realise that, although they will always love each other, maybe they are better off apart. As they sit down to their last supper together will these soulmates be able to come to terms with a future without each other?
Then, as Peter heads out of the flat with his holdall, closely followed by Carla, he’s touched and surprised to find the whole family, with the exception of Simon, waiting outside. Peter exchanges emotional farewells with each of them and promises Ken that he’ll keep in touch.
