Coronation Street star Channique Sterling-Brown told 'oh well' as she makes surprise rival soap claim
Stephen Mulhern couldn't help but point out the reaction from Emmerdale star Kevin Mathurin after it was revealed his soap family could have looked very different. The presenter was hosting the annual ITV special, The Big Soap Quiz: Coronation Street v Emmerdale at the time.
It sees cast members from both soaps go head to head to see who knows theirs best. This year, Corrie's team captain Jack P Shepherd was joined by Channique Sterling-Brown and Tony Maudsley, with the trio known for playing David Platt, Dee-Dee Bailey and George Shuttleworth on the cobbles.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale team captain, Marlon Dingle legend Mark Charnock, was joined by Kevin and Natalie Ann Jamieson, who play Charles Anderson and Amy Wyatt in the Dales.

But as Stephen introduced the teams, the new Dancing on Ice host revealed that Channique was almost part of the Emmerdale cast. "By the way, a little birdie tells me that you could have actually been on the other team tonight, is that right?" Stephen said as he spoke to the Corrie newcomer.
Confirming Stephen was correct, Channique looked over the other team and said: "I could have been your daughter, Kevin!" to which Emmerdale star Kevin replied: "You're kidding!" Stephen then explained: "She auditioned," to which Channique replied: "Didn't get the job!"
Kevin then remarked: "Oh well, it all happens for a good reason!" to which Stephen quipped: "Kevin seems gutted about that, literally he went: 'Oh well!'", leaving the actor in hysterics as he continued to justify his response that it happened for 'good
