Connor Goldson Rangers transfer hype escalates as sleuths unearth clues he's 'on his way' to Aris Limassol

Rangers fans are convinced Connor Goldson is heading Aris Limassol – with snowballing social media rumours suggesting he's already on the plane to Cyprus.

Philippe Clement is open to virtually all avenues of clearing his decks for new talent this summer as he looks to bring the average age down and build a new side for the long-term. He's already shifted on Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic to name three, and it's seeming increasingly likely skipper James Tavernier will join the latter pair in Turkey.

The man on fans' lips on Monday morning though is vice captain Goldson. Previously one of the first names on the teamsheet, from the days of Steven Gerrard right through to Michael Beale, Clement unseated Goldson from his starting berth in April before a knee injury ended his season early. And that led to early speculation he could leave this summer to clear a big wage off the bill and give Clement some room for manoeuvre.

Social media is awash with chat that the 31-year-old is on his way to Aris Limassol, who infamously downed Rangers 2-1 in Cyprus in the Champions League last season. There have been claims he boarded a private jet from Prestwick on Sunday night, with one image seeming to show him on the phone as he walks through the airport corridor.

Some in Cyprus, including the This Is Mappa podcast, have jumped on the hype. And despite doubts over whether they could afford to sign one of earners, who would also command a fee, it's suggested they would be willing to spend to land what would be a major coup.
