Cody Rhodes return: WWE "still wants" former AEW star for WrestleMania match

WWE still want Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania next month if he is to re-sign with the company.

Reports have gone back and forth over the last couple of weeks on Rhodes’ status with WWE. Some of have suggested that talks between the two parties had ‘fizzled out’ since the initial drive to bring Cody back, but there have been contrasting reports that a return is still very much on for The American Nightmare.

Now, in a new update to the story, Dave Meltzer has noted on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE still want Rhodes for WrestleMania. Adding that an appearance on next week’s Monday Night Raw in Jacksonville would make sense.

So, here’s the situation. Obviously, WWE wants him for WrestleMania, time is running out I think we have 3 weeks until WrestleMania. So, I know there’s Raw in Monday in Jacksonville, if he’s going to be at WrestleMania it would make sense to debut in Jacksonville if they have a deal which we don’t know about.

If he’s not there I would assume the deal is not closed, because that’s the date they wanted him for. So, as far as we know he had stuff set up for WM and it was off the boards a couple of days ago, talks are still going and I guess we’ll find out.

Earlier this week there had been some speculation that WWE is pitching for Rhodes to work with Seth Rollins in Dallas. Given that The Visionary is with a match or viable opponent for the event at such a late stage, it could be a sign that is still the way they want to go, if they can reach an agreement with Cody in the coming days.
