Triple H reveals he had plans to be a part of a WrestleMania

Triple H has revealed that there were plans in place for him to perform at WrestleMania 38, before his sudden cardiac event.

Then fourteen-time world champion confirmed during a recent interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith that he will never wrestle again following the heart and cardiac issues he suffered in 2021. Bringing down the curtain on a near thirty-year career in the business.

During the interview The Game revealed that he had very early talks with Vince McMahon about plans for WrestleMania 38, but they were never resumed following his health issues.

“I was already at a place in my career, as far as the in-ring goes, where I was comfortable being done and finished.

If the right thing came along, I hadn’t really said much, but if the right thing came along and they wanted me to do it…I had a conversation with Vince McMahon about doing something at WrestleMania this year in Dallas.

We had talked about and there were plans for. Obviously, when this happened, it shut all that down. As far as the schedule, WWE is an intense place, it’s 24/7 and you’re running, running, running. It put things in perspective for me.

There’s no indication of who the 52-year-old may have worked with at WrestleMania, given the talks took place prior to his cardiac problems in September, but many fans would have loved to have seen Triple H mix-up with a returning Cody Rhodes. Blurring the lines of fiction and reality between the two and the events during the infancy of AEW.

Triple H’s last televised match was against Randy Orton at Super ShowDown in 2019, although his last official bout came at a live event in Japan. Teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura in a tag team battle against Samoa Joe and Robert Roode at Tokyo house show in June 2019.
