Celtic transfer bulletin as Jacen Russell Rowe 'offers' sets sleuths tongues wagging and Conway opens talks with suitor

Columbus Crew have rejected more than one offer from a "Scottish club" for striker Jacen Russell-Rowe, with Celtic fans suspecting it could well be them.

Rowe was part of the Canada squad that reached the semi-finals of the Copa America after five goals and one assist for Crew in Major League Soccer. After the successful capture of international teammate Alistair Johnston and Brendan Rodgers' publicly stated desire to sign two new strikers this summer, Hoops fans suspect they may well be the club trying to sign Russell-Rowe, although they'll have to up the ante to persuade Crew to sell.

Rodgers wants a more experienced striker to compete with Kyogo for a starting spot, as well as a younger one as further back up. That role had been earmarked for Rocco Vata, although Rodgers has been forced into a rethink after the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international left for Watford. His replacement could be promoted from the Academy, although 21-year-old Rowe does seem to fit the profile Rodgers is looking for.

Scotland breakout star Tommy Conway is another, although he is likely to cost considerably more. And the Bristol City striker looks like making the move to Middlesbrough rather than Parkhead. The 21-year-old is in talks with Boro over a switch from Bristol City.

The Northern Echo reports that an agreement hasn't been reached yet. However, Conway is training away from the first team at Ashton Gate after refusing to sign a contract extension and is expected to leave the club during this window with Michael Carrick's side now his most likely destination.
