Brighton and Southampton no closer to Matt O'Riley Celtic transfer valuation as EPL duo remain in talks

Brighton and Southampton remain in talks with Celtic over a deal for Matt O’Riley - but neither are getting close to the Hoops' valuation.

The Saints have had bids turned down and Brighton have since entered the frame. Celtic have made it clear that they won’t sell unless the price is right. The Scottish champions won’t give a fee but it is clear it will take a significant bid in and or around the £25million package they could land from Jota’s sale.

Celtic have also turned down multiple offers from Italian side Atalanta who remain interested. It remains to be seen if others will come to the table with Chelsea also known to be watching the situation closely. O’Riley hasn’t let the speculation derail him and he was a key man in Celtic’s opening day win over Kilmarnock. Boss Brendan Rodgers has urged teams to value the player and not the league when bidding for O’Riley.

The Danish International has proved to be a bargain signing since his £1.5 million move from MK Dons. Celtic are trying to add to their squad.

They have brought in Paulo Bernardo, Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo. They are now looking to bring in a left-back, possibly another centre half, midfielder and two strikers before the close of the window.
