Celtic and ourselves being top of the league means nothing, insists Well boss

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell says being joint-top of the Premiership with Celtic means nothing just now - but he's delighted with a 1-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle, despite being down to 10 men for over 20 minutes.

Paul McGinn's second booking in 69 minutes for hauling back Liam Boyce as he bore down the left flank might have left Motherwell up against it, but it didn't show, as they held out well for the three points, after Callum Slattery's 29th-minute strike.

He said: "It doesn't mean anything if I'm being honest, and I don't want to be doom and gloom.

"It doesn't mean anything at this point, but I did speak to the players about trying to push boundaries as much as we possibly can.

"As a short-term goal, coming to a place like Tynecastle, getting a clean sheet is pushing the boundaries for a club like Motherwell.

"Their resources and everything is astronomical, in comparison with ourselves.

"We're not going to look at the league table, we're not going to speak about it as a group.

"For supporters and people outside our club it's a big story and something to talk about, but for us, very simply we feel as though we've hit an unbelievable stretch of form.

"I think that's now 10 Premiership games without defeat, we've not lost an away game since I took charge, and these are all amazing statistics.

"But focusing more back into the group of players, there are so any aspects that are functioning really well at this time."

Kettlewell praised his side's resilience as they emerged
