Hudderfield Town ace says Motherwell win told him loads about new side's character

Brodie Spencer may only be in the door at Fir Park but he insists Saturday's comeback win over Kilmarnock has told him loads about the character in the Motherwell dressing room.

The right-back joined on season-long loan from English Championship side Huddersfield Town last week and thrown straight in for his debut in the dramatic 2-1 win over Killie, where he set up Dan Casey for the equaliser before Harry Paton netted a 97th minute winner.

And he was thoroughly impressed by the resolve his new team-mates showed to haul themselves back from 1-0 down and the blow of Callum Slattery's penalty being saved late on at 1-1.

The 19-year-old Northern Ireland international said: "I am only here a few days but I have already learned a lot about the lads, just from that result.

"It shows the character of the team.

"Most teams would let their heads go down after missing the penalty, but the lads stuck in and got their reward.

"I felt the character at half-time.

"Nobody was down, nobody was feeling sorry for themselves. We knew what we needed to do in the second half and went out and did it.

"I think I could have got a goal, or two maybe, but I'm just glad to get an assist and get the win.

"It was a bit different playing on the left-hand side, rather than the right, but I am one of those players where, as long as I am in the team, I am happy and I'll give everything.

"I think in the first half it was a bit slow. I sort of knew the only way was up from there and, going into the second half, it was a lot better.

"We grew into the game more, got more confidence.

"All the lads were brilliant with me. They spoke to me throughout the whole game and that helped my confidence, so it was great to get the win - and to do it in the last minute
