Motherwell kid credits former Aberdeen striker dad and boss Stuart Kettlewell for helping him handle first team breakthrough

Motherwell starlet Lennon Miller has thanked his ex-pro dad Lee and boss Stuart Kettlewell for helping him handle his rapid rise to the first team at Fir Park.

The midfielder, who turned 17 last week, is the club's youngest ever player after making his big break last season while his goal against East Fife in July made him the club's youngest-ever scorer.

And now he is one of the first names on the team-sheet for the Steelmen, making eight appearances so far and netting twice in the Viaplay Cup group stages.

Former Aberdeen and Scotland international Lee has been helping keep his son's diet in check and warning him off social media, while Kettlewell has given him the opportunities on the park to thrive in claret and amber.

So the combination of tips and advice from two former pros is helping the former Coltness High School pupil stay focused and make his mark at Motherwell.

Wishaw lad Miller, whose side sit joint-top of the Premiership with Celtic and St Mirren, said: "It's been good. Playing minutes is what I've been looking for.

"I had a sniff last year and it's what I've wanted to do, starting as many games as I can.

"I had the gaffer at under-18 level last year and he has helped me. He has pushed me in training and helped me with wee details.

"He has given me the opportunity so I'm thankful to him.

"It is nice knowing the manager believes in me and hopefully there are plenty more game to come.

"I don't really let that [being Motherwell's youngest-ever player] affect me.

"I just keep my head down, work as hard as I can and prove to people that I am good enough."
