BREAKING: Queues of SEVEN MILES on M60 after crash - latest updates

Drivers are facing long delays this rush hour after a crash on the M60 motorway in Salford.

Traffic was stopped clockwise at junction 16 for Kearsley and Salford following a collision.

Vehicles were held on the motorway for more than half an hour after 4.55pm this afternoon (February 8).

In a post on Twitter at around 5pm, a spokesperson for National Highways said: "Traffic is held on the M60 clockwise between J15 and J16, near Swinton due to a collision.

"Congestion is building, with 2.5 miles of slow moving traffic on the approach."

Data from Google Maps shows congestion backed up beyond the M602, towards the Trafford Centre.

Details about the crash are yet to be confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service have all been approached for comment.
