BREAKING: Police tape off stretch of major Greater Manchester road after 'serious' incident - latest updates

A major road in Stockport has been closed in both directions following a serious collision.

Emergency services are at the scene on the A6 Buxton Road and London Road in Hazel Grove. Pictures show a white car crashed into traffic lights with a long stretch of the road taped off.

The Manchester Evening News understands the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating at the scene. Public transport routes in the area are being diverted as police carry out their work.

The ongoing police incident is having a significant impact on transport routes in the area.

The A6 is currently blocked off, and all Stagecoach 192 services are terminating at Stepping Hill Hospital. There are no stops up to Hazel Grove park and ride not being served.
