Police on scene of crash on main road in Bury with closure expected 'for some time'

A main road in Bury has been closed off by police this morning after a crash.

A stretch of Rochdale Road - the A680 - in Ramsbottom, Bury, is currently shut, police said. The closure is expected to remain in place 'for some time'.

It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone has been left seriously injured. Officers urged people to 'take care' when driving in icy conditions'.

A further update on the crash on expected later this morning. A post on the Rossendale Police Facebook page said: "*ROAD CLOSED* We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on Rochdale Road, Ramsbottom.

"The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for some time. Please take care when driving due to the icy conditions.

"We’ll provide an update once cleared and thank you in advance for your patience."
