BREAKING: Emergency services cordon off residential street amid ongoing police incident - live updates

Emergency services have cordoned off a residential street in Stretford amid an ongoing police incident this evening (August 10).

Officers from Greater Manchester Police are at the scene on Coniston Road and Thirlmere Avenue, near the Trafford Park train station with a large cordon in place.

A number of police vehicles, including a TAU van, have been pictured at the scene with one resident telling the M.E.N that 'armed police' were also present.

A number of police vehicles remain at the scene and a cordon in place.

Paramedics were also understood to have been at the scene earlier today.

Pictures shared to social media show an ambulance in attendance and air ambulance vehicles parked along nearby Langdale Road.

One eyewitness who lives nearby reported seeing 'armed police everywhere' earlier this afternoon.

It is understood the cordon has been in place for a number of hours.
