BREAKING: Emergency services close road next to River Irwell amid police incident - live updates
Police have closed off a road beside the River Irwell this evening amid an ongoing incident. Officers remain at the scene along with paramedics and fire crews.
A cordon is in place currently close to the junction with Lower Broughton Road. Pictures from the scene show an ambulance, fire engines and police in attendance.
The nature of the ongoing incident has not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for further details.

In a statement, GMP have said: "At around 3.45pm on Wednesday 8 November 2023, officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a female on Lower Broughton Road, Salford.
"Emergency services attended and located the female, she has been taken to hospital for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing at this stage."
The investigation is thought to centre around Frederick Road in Lower Broughton, next to the River Irwell and near to the junction with Lower Broughton Road.
Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire Service have been approached for more information on this breaking incident.
