A 'number of road closures' are in place in Bolton this afternoon as police respond to an incident.
Officers said the closures are in place around the junction of Tonge Moor Road and Thicketford Road. Police are currently on the scene.
People are being urged to avoid the area and drivers should 'use alternative routes'. The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed, though Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for further details.

A post on the GMP Bolton Facebook page said: "#CLOSURE | There are currently a number of road closures in place around the junction of Tonge Moor Road and Thicketford Road due to an incident. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes."

Tonge Moor Road remains cordoned off by police this afternoon, with paramedics also on scene.
Both GMP and NWAS have been contacted for further information.
Eyewitnesses are reporting that there has been a crash at the juntion of Tonge Moor Road and Thicketford Road.
We are awaiting details from GMP.
According to traffic alert service Inrix, Tonge Moor Road is currently shut in both directions.
It is blocked between Thicketford Road and Sheriff Street.
