Emergency services and mountain rescue scrambled to search for missing teen

A mountain rescue team was scrambled to help search for a teenager missing in Lancashire.

At 3pm on Thursday (November 23), Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were deployed to assist Lancashire Constabulary with the search for a missing teenager near to the Nick O' Pendle hill in Clitheroe.

Further assistance was given by Bolton Mountain Rescue Team as well as resources from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England.

Police and Coastguard helicopters also supported the team in the rescue efforts, alongside team members from the Mountain Rescue Team.

One of their ATVs made its way up to Pendle from Barley, over the summit via Scout Cairn towards the top of Ogden Clough.

An incident control centre was set up with the police at Wellsprings. As the search was underway, information was gathered from the police and eventually the teenager was located by the force "some distance away" in Clitheroe.

This was at approximately 5.20pm, and team members withdrew from the hill and stood down. Vehicles then returned and were washed, ready to be of any assistance again should they be required in the local community, Lancs Live reports.

A fully voluntary organisation, the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team responds to those in need within the local community. Volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and rely entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out life-saving rescues.

Support can be given by texting 'RPMRT' with an amount, for example RPMRT10 to 70085. Alternatively donate online at www.justgiving.com/
